Stuttgart Endurance Specialist Laurents Hörr Secures Third Place at the World’s Toughest Endurance Race

June 17, 2024 – Stuttgart endurance specialist Laurents Hörr, who started for the third time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, secured an impressive third place in the LMP2 Pro/Am class with his Luxembourg-based team DKR Engineering at the world’s toughest endurance race.

As the final driver, Laurents Hörr crossed the finish line in the Oreca 07 prototype as 21st overall out of 64 starters and third in the LMP2 Pro/Am class on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

The 612-hp #33 machine, which he shared with teammates René Binder (AUT) and Alexander Mattschull (GER), received a striking Art Car livery created especially for this race by French artist Victor Vullo.

Already during the prologue the week before, Laurents Hörr was in top form. In qualifying, he secured a spot in the so-called “Hyperpole,” in which the top 8 of each class fight for their final grid positions. Starting from P7, the team took on the 13.6 km Le Mans circuit at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, in what is considered the most prestigious motorsport spectacle in the world. The race was followed by more than 300,000 spectators on site and over 120 million viewers worldwide on TV and via streaming.

After a very challenging race with changing weather conditions, engine problems, and numerous safety car phases, the team around Laurents Hörr not only managed to finish the race, but also to achieve a sensational podium result.

“I am overjoyed that at my third start in Le Mans I was already able to claim a podium for the second time,” said Laurents Hörr. “My thanks go to the entire DKR Engineering team, without whose incredible effort we would not have achieved this result,” Hörr continued.

Now, the full focus is on the remainder of the European Le Mans Series season, which Hörr is also contesting with DKR Engineering in the LMP2 category.
